The Best Cheese Fondue Recipe

Ingredients

You will need 1 garlic clove, 1 ½ cups dry white wine, 1 tablespoon corn starch, 2 teaspoon kirsch, 2 cups Emmental cheese coarsely grated and 2 cups Gruyere cheese coarsely grated, 1 loaf sourdough bread, a fondue pot, and some fondue forks.

Preparation

Now to prepare this cheese fondue recipe, you want to start by rubbing the inside of a pot with the cut sides of garlic. This will flavor the pot and give you a much nicer tasting fondue. This is a nifty little trick that you can use for many other dishes as well.

Discard the garlic, and next for this cheese fondue recipe you need to add the wine to the pot and bring to a mild simmer over medium heat, no higher because you do not want to ruin the wine. In a separate bowl you want to mix together the cornstarch and the kirsch, and then you gradually add both cheeses for this cheese fondue recipe and cook for about ten minutes, just until the cheese is smooth and melted.

Stir the cornstarch mixture once more and then mix into the fondue, and then bring the fondue to a simmer and cook, stirring until thickened. Now you want to transfer the cheese fondue mixture to a fondue pot over flame and serve with cubed bread for dipping.
