Swiss Cheese Fondue: A Healthy Snack or Fattening Dessert?

Well, although Swiss cheese fondue is certainly not the healthiest thing in the world for you to be eating, there are many nutritional benefits that it offers and why you can certainly include it in so many of your meal plans.

There are various different types of cheese that you can use in the fondue, but if you are going for the health benefits, you will definitely want to stick with the Swiss cheese fondue.

The Swiss cheese fondue is great for calcium for one, and even just having it as a side dish at a meal will offer you the day’s worth of calcium that is required. You see that cheese is included as a major part of the food pyramid, and this is why. It also offers more nutrition, and when combined with the right foods, it will be the perfect all around meal.

Pair it with veggies and you will actually have a way to get your kids to eat their vegetables. This is every parent’s dream, so you will no longer have to sit at the table with them begging them to eat their greens.

Make Your Own

You can really have fun and make your own easy cheese fondue, and all you need to do is find a great Swiss cheese fondue recipe that you can whip up at home in no time and which your family is going to love.

There are quite a few different recipes that you can choose from here, but one that is super quick and super delicious is the one available from Kraft, which is a great company that you can always turn to when you need a great recipe in minutes. This is some serious fondue, the double cheese fondue that no one can turn down.

For it you will need 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1 tablespoon dry mustard, 1 package Kraft Swiss cheese, 1 package Kraft Gouda cheese, 1 clove garlic, and 1 ½ cups dry white wine (you can leave this out if you are serving to children).

To prepare this delectable dish, all you need to do is mix the cornstarch and mustard in a large bowl, add the cheeses, toss evenly to coat, set aside. Now you rub the inside of a medium pot with garlic, add wine, bring to boil on medium heat, add the cheese in batches, stirring constantly after each addition so that the cheese does not stick and melts evenly.

Then you just continue cooking until the cheese mixture is smooth and creamy, and pour into the fondue pot.
